How to tell what firmware your camera is (how to nerve pinch your camera)

Firstm, start with your camera OFF:

For still cameras:

Hold down the shutter button, "display", and "delete", and then press power. A nifty screen will pop up telling you what firmware you have.

For camcorders:

Hold down "record" and "delete" and then press the power button. Once again, the nifty screen will tell you everything you want to know.
